GIS

Edmonds's Geographic Information System (GIS) Program

Geographic Information Systems (GIS) combine data, software, and hardware into an integrated system designed to analyze information and present it in a geographic display. A GIS system goes beyond a mapping tool to become a platform for analysis and evaluating scenarios. For example, determining the optimum location for a new business, analysis of crime patterns, or environmental planning for watershed impact.

The City of Edmonds has been utilizing GIS to support City departments including Planning, Engineering and Public Works. The program managed by the city's Information Technology department includes expert staff, data administration, data collection and updating, and GIS access and support to City staff. Please contact our GIS Administrator for more details about the program.
