The Department of Parks, Recreation and Human Services, located at the Frances Anderson Center, serves as the community's key resource for providing parks, open space, recreation programs and human services to ensure a healthy and active quality of life for the Edmonds citizens and visitors to the community to enjoy.

The Department plays a vital role in many aspects of community life, with staff liaisons to the Edmonds Library Board, the Tree Board, the Edmonds Memorial Cemetery Board, the Planning/Parks Board, and the Edmonds Youth Commission. Click here for boards and commissions information.

Multiple youth classes to choose from, serving ages 2 months to teens! Join our instructors for art, tutoring, French, LEGO classes, Parent & Baby Neuromovement, Pre-K movement and  more! Learn about the Meadowdale Preschool, Youth Sports like Floorball, Basketball, Soccer, or sign your kids up for one of our many Discovery programs interacting with nature.  Adults we have something for you too! Participate in Adult Athletics Leagues (Outdoor Volleyball, Pickleball, Softball) or sign up for wellness classes (Bars, Barre, Circuit Training Feldenkrais, Yoga, Jazzercise, Meditation, Qigong, T'ai Chi, Sound Bath and more). Facility Updates: 

Athletic Fields

Athletic Fields are open for drop in use by individuals not in association with an organized sports program. Field rental requests are being accepted (425-771-0229 or [email protected]). Additional information about field rentals can be found on the rental page. Dogs are not allowed on athletic fields at any time. 


Picnic Shelters (Hickman Park & City Park)

Picnic shelters are available for reservation April - September. Most weekend dates for Summer 2023 have been reserved. Click here to check availability and/or make a reservation.  Shelters that are not reserved are available on a first come, first served basis year-round. Water is available in the Picnic Shelters (Hickman Park & City Park) during the months of April - September.

City Park Gazebo & Civic Center Entrance Plaza

The Gazebo at City Park and Entrance Plaza of the Civic Center Playfield are covered areas in each respective park that have seating available. There are no sinks or running water and cooking is not permitted in these locations. These locations are available for reservation April - September.  These locations are available on a first come, first served basis year-round when not reserved. To check availability and/or make a reservation for one of these locations contact 425-771-0230.

Frances Anderson Center Bandshell (Outdoor Amphitheater) & City Park Pavillion 

The Bandshell and Pavillion are typically rented for performances. Both are covered stages with grass areas for spectators. Gazebo at City Park and Entrance Plaza of the Civic Center Playfield are covered areas in each respective park that have seating available. There are no sinks or running water and cooking is not permitted in these locations. These locations are available for reservation April - September.  These locations are available on a first come, first served basis year-round when not reserved. If you or a person you know are in need of assistance, guidance and/or help finding resources across a variety of issues we encourage you to contact Human Services at 425-563-8348. The Human Services staff can assist individuals who are financially, mentally or housing-stressed with support and connections to local and regional resources that can help.
