Chief of Police Loi Dawkins

Chief Loi Dawkins was appointed Chief of Police for the Edmonds Police Department in July of 2025, bringing with her more than 23 years of distinguished law enforcement experience. She joined EPD in 2022 as the Assistant Chief of Support Services after serving with the King County Sheriff’s Office, Metro Transit Police, and the Muckleshoot Tribal Police Department.
Throughout her career, Chief Dawkins has held a variety of leadership and operational roles — including Burglary/Larceny Detective, Internal Investigations Sergeant, Court Protection Unit Supervisor, and Anti-Terrorism Team member. She served as the Police Chief for the Muckleshoot Tribe and later as an Operations Captain, gaining extensive experience in both tribal and urban policing.
Chief Dawkins holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Washington, as well as a master’s in public safety from the University of Virginia. She is a graduate of the prestigious FBI National Academy, session #287 — a distinction earned by the nation’s top law enforcement professionals.
As Chief of Police, she is committed to leading the Edmonds Police Department with integrity, transparency, and service to community. Her leadership is grounded in the department’s mission and values and guided by a deep belief in accountability, inclusion, and excellence.
Outside of her professional role, Chief Dawkins is a dedicated wife and mother. She and her husband of 21 years are raising three daughters. Her commitment to family mirrors the care and balance she brings to her work in public safety and community service.
