Edmonds Arts Commission presents free concerts on Sundays and Thursdays in July and August. The series offers something for all ages and musical tastes, from World Music, Country, Folk, and Pop to Jazz, R&B, Rock and World Beat.

Sunday Concerts are sponsored Lynnwood Honda and Hazel Miller Foundation. The Thursday Concerts are sponsored by The Hazel Miller Foundation.

 July 19: Sturz - Edmonds is happy to have back this group from Boulder, CO. Sturtz’s music stands out for its distinctive instrumental and vocal harmonies. The acoustic quartet – Andrew Sturtz [vocals, guitar], Jim Herlihy [banjo], Courtlyn Carpenter [cello], and Will Kuepper [bass] – falls somewhere at the intersection of folk, jazz, and soul.

July 26: Umami Jazz Fusion – This group features favorite tracks of the great fusion era and beyond while folding originals into the mix. The band is the brainchild of trumpeter John Sakura.

The rhythm section, driven by Dave Austin on drums, features the funky bass work of Jim Cliff and Leonard Berman’s stellar guitar. Local journeymen Bruce Laven on keyboards and lead vocals with Scott Adams on saxophone round out the ensemble.

Aug 2: CHIKIRI & The School of TAIKO - Founded in 2009, The School of TAIKO is an educational and artistic institution dedicated to fostering cultural connection through the discipline of Japanese Taiko Drumming and Japanese Arts, Music and Culture. Under the umbrella of Japan Creative Arts, the organization operates the professional ensemble CHIKIRI, a community school serving over 400 students annually. Their high-energy performances are frequently featured at major sports and community milestones.

Aug 9: Clave Gringa Cuban Ensemble - Presenting a broad spectrum of Cuban music classics and original compositions by Ann Reynolds, Clave Gringa features Willie Garza and Edsson Otero (percussion), Mike Mines and Nathaniel Schleimer- (horn, tenor sax and flute), Andy Zadrozny(bass) and Ann Reynolds (piano).

Aug 16: Brother John & The Surrogates - This Seattle-based music collaborative’s sound ranges from dreamy ballads and blues-based grooves to countrified knee-slappers and edgy progressive compositions.

 July 9: Jean Lenke - Jazz, Folk & Blues vocalist and band leader Jean Lenke’s approach to music crosses boundaries and mixes genres that span generations.

July 16: Third Harbour – Traditional Irish fiddle tunes and Celtic music, as well as original Celtic compositions featuring cello, flute, guitar, mandola, mandolin, and vocals. Featuring Gary Longton, Nancy Morgan, Robyne de Jong and Dennis Burkhardt.

July 23: Nick Drummond - A performing songwriter for over 15 years, selling out multi-night runs at landmark Seattle venues such as Dimitriou’s Jazz Alley and The Triple Door, as well as shows at Seattle’s Showbox at the Market and Neumos.

July 30: Those Guys - In addition to original songs, this acoustic duo plays an eclectic yet familiar mix of popular music. The song list spans the '50s through today by dozens of artists, from Adele to Warren Zevon.

Aug 6: Sheryl Wiser - Seattle singer-songwriter and guitarist Sheryl Wiser has a sound that lives in the space where Americana, roots, folk, blues, and rock overlap.

 Aug 13: Maya Soleil Traditions - acoustic African song and dance from countries of western and south-central Africa. Members past and present have performed and recorded with many of the notable musicians in African music and dance, including Fela (Nigeria), I.K. Dairo (Nigeria), Obo Addy (Ghana), Dumi Maraire (Zimbabwe), Kanda Bongo Man (Congo), and the national dance companies of Ghana, Guinea, and Zambia.

 Aug 20: Eli Rosenblatt - a multi-instrumentalist, performer, producer and composer, Eli Rosenblatt brings familiar musical stylings from all around the globe into his performance.

 Aug 27: Z Jones & Omega Band – Featuring Arzelia “Zee” Jones, the group brings their own high energy sound to neo-soul and R & B tunes.
