Design standards are a key implementation tool to evaluate the design of a proposed development. These standards affect:
- How a Building Looks
- Design Components or Features (entrances, windows, driveways)
- How the Building is Viewed from the Street and other Properties
Currently, most multifamily buildings (apartments and townhouses) don't have many specific standards on how the design of the building should look. This can make it difficult to know what will be required and what "fits" with the surrounding neighborhood.
The goal of this code update is to review possible design standards and find out what works for Edmonds.
There will be many opportunities for people to share their thoughts and weigh in on different ideas. Please contact the Project Manager to share your thoughts and discuss how you can get involved.
