Arts Commission

The Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Department, located at the Frances Anderson Center, serves as the community's key resource for providing parks, open space, recreation programs, and cultural arts for the enjoyment of Edmonds citizens and visitors to the community. The Department plays a vital role in many aspects of community life, with staff liaisons to the Edmonds Library Board, the Edmonds Memorial Cemetery Board, the Planning/Parks Board, and the Edmonds Arts Commission.  Click here for boards and commissions information.

NEW Wildlife of Edmonds Poster

Free copies of this great new resource are available for pick up at the Frances Anderson Center, 700 Main Street, Edmonds. The 2-sided, folded poster, funded in part through a grant from the Hubbard Family Foundation, features photographic portraits of local species (many by local photographers), habitat information and suggestions for actions that citizens can take to help protect wildlife and watersheds.  Poster

Marina Beach Master Plan Virtual Open House-open until March 20

Please visit the Marina Beach Master Plan Virtual Open House to provide your input at http://marinabeach.publicmeeting.info through March 20. The City of Edmonds is in the process of creating a Master Plan for Marina Beach Park, which includes alternatives for daylighting Willow Creek. Picnic Shelter Reservations Open

Picnic Shelter Reservations
Picnic Shelters can be rented from April 1 through September 30. City Park has three shelters and a gazebo, and Hickman Park has one shelter that can be reserved for your enjoyment. The cost per shelter Monday thru Thursday is $110 and $125 on Friday thru Sundays. The gazebo is $60 per reservation. facebook(Edmonds - WA)  The City of Edmonds has launched a new Facebook page as part of its ongoing effort to enhance communications with the community. The City adopted its social media policy last Fall, with the goal of launching a Facebook page in the new year. read more

Chaperone Opportunity for 2015 Student Delegation to Hekinan, Japan

(Edmonds – WA) The Edmonds Sister City Commission is accepting applications from teachers interested in co-leading the annual student visit to Hekinan, Japan during the last two weeks of July 2015. This program was started in 1988 and has organized visits for over 500 middle and high school aged students to and from Hekinan, Japan. Chaperones stay with a host family in Hekinan and travel costs are paid by the Commission.

The 2014 delegation chaperones, Edmonds School District teachers Karyn Heinekin and Phil Onishi, recently shared highlights of their trip with the Edmonds City Council. They both expressed what a “fabulous opportunity this was for them to travel to Japan and experience the Japanese culture” and also talked about “building lasting relationships with many of the people they met in Hekinan”. read more
