Our law enforcement officers and our civilian staff are each committed to exceptional standards, professionalism and quality of life in our community. The citizens we serve expect that of us. We, in turn, expect that of ourselves. We pride ourselves in being an accredited agency by the Washington State Association of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs. Being accredited demonstrates that we have subscribed to and regularly demonstrate best practices in our profession in areas such as service delivery, training, professional standards, internal affairs, and being responsive to the public.

Edmonds remains one of the safest communities in the Puget Sound area. See our most recent annual report. (2012-2013 Annual Report). Quality of life is everything to our city. Maintaining that quality of life is central to our role and each member of the Police Department is committed to it. In turn, our citizens play an equally important part by being vigilant, reporting suspicious or criminal activity, and by taking common sense steps to lessen the chances of becoming a victim. The partnership between the Police Department and our community is critical to our overall mission of public safety.

To enhance our effectiveness, we continue to make strides with our utilization of technology. Personnel are our front line, but technology is an essential part of our day to day operations. Several of the initiatives we are currently engaged in include participation in procurement of a new countywide public safety computer aided dispatch and records system; enhancement of connectivity for our patrol vehicle computer terminals through commercial wireless and hot-spots; moving toward an all electronic ticketing and traffic collision reporting system; and use of automated vehicle license plate reader technology to locate stolen and other wanted vehicles.

We appreciate the support and trust our community has extended to us. It is our responsibility to uphold that trust. We strive to provide the highest quality law enforcement services to keep Edmonds the safe city that it is. Thank you for visiting our website. We welcome your feedback.
