Economic Development

Economic Development Department staff proactively works to strengthen the Edmonds economy, create a more business-friendly environment, and works with other city departments and elected officials on policies to bolster the retail and commercial sectors. We also meet regularly with local businesses, property owners, and associations. If you’re thinking of opening a business in Edmonds, check in with the Economic Development Department first and let us be your guide at City Hall.

It is vital that the City maintain a link between and among our business
community for our mutual benefit. For example, it is critically important that
we understand the needs of local businesses so that we can, when possible,
address their individual and collective needs. It is equally important that we
make businesses and their employees aware of the many services that Irvine
provides.

The Economic Development Director acts as the primary liaison between the private sector and city government. Department services include:

    • City liaison to the business community
    • Business recruitment & retention
    • Site selection assistance
    • Development assistance
    • Tourism and events promotions
    • Economic and demographic data
    • Film/TV industry location help

The City of Edmonds is committed to supporting and retaining our business community, and enhancing economic development.  The Departments of Community Services and Economic Development staff are available to assist you with your business-related questions and direct you to the City's business resources webpage to support your business.
