Write on the Sound, a regional favorite, is a 2 1/2-day writing conference presented by the City of Edmonds Arts Commission. This well-established conference, focused on the craft of writing, offers an affordable experience for writers of all levels, with a variety of intimate high quality workshops at the Frances Anderson Center in Edmonds, WA on the shore of Puget Sound.
Pre-conference critique sessions and in-depth workshops are offered on Friday. The weekend conference continues with over 30 Saturday and Sunday workshops, a keynote address, and manuscript critique appointments. Saturday evening the Edmonds Arts Commission hosts a meet-and-greet reception including a book signing event. An onsite bookstore features works by conference presenters, plus other writing resources. Challenge yourself this year and enter the conference writing contest! Conference attendance limited to under 250 participants.
The 2012 conference features keynote Carla Neggers, a NYT and USA Today bestselling romantic suspense author. Workshop session presenters include internationally known travel writer Rick Steves and WA State Poet Laureate Kathleen Flenniken. 2012 registration fees: pre-conference - $70; 2 day - $147 ($127 before 5 PM on 9/4); 1 day - $80; keynote only - $15/$10 (student).
