| The City of Edmonds Public Art Collection contains work by eminent Northwest artists including Guy Anderson, Tony Angell, Robert Cooke, Everett DuPen, Georgia Gerber, Steve Jensen, William Morris, Buster Simpson, and Michelle VanSlyke. See the Self-Guided Tour of Public Art Brochure for a map featuring 40 outdoor works. The City of Edmonds Arts Commission oversees the acquisition, maintenance and display of Public Art for the City. Acquisition of artwork is funded through the One Percent for Art ordinance, donations, and gifts. The One Percent for Art ordinance was established in 1976 and the art fund receives 1% of the cost of municipal capital construction projects funded by the City. Identification of a specific site or project for Public Art is initiated through the Edmonds Arts Commission. The selection process includes a jury of artists, community members and one commissioner formed to review artist applications and select the finalists. For works totaling more than $5000, the prospectus is approved by City Council and the community is invited to a public meeting to gather input. The jury's final selection is presented at a City Council meeting for a public hearing and Council approval.
