 What: Concerned citizens and community leaders rally to protect critical emergency, commercial and pedestrian access to the Edmonds waterfront, including Edmonds beaches, Edmonds-Kingston Ferry landing, Edmonds Marina, Edmonds Underwater Dive Park and the Edmonds Senior Center, from an alarming projected increase in rail traffic (PDF)- including a significant increase in coal trains - that would more than double the amount of train delays along the Edmonds waterfront. Edmonds Mayor, emergency responders, business and community leaders are leading the charge to facilitate a mitigation process between local, state and federal leaders to address the at-grade crossing conflict between trains, Washington State Ferries and the SAFETY (PDF) needs of Edmonds.
