Edmonds Main Street Final - large
The Main Street Decorative Lighting and Sidewalk Enhancement project between 5th and 6th Avenues is scheduled to begin construction in September and be completed in November. The streetscape improvements will include new and wider sidewalks, curb and gutter, trees, street lighting, flower basket poles, public art, benches, trash receptacles and bike racks. The street lighting will be energy efficient LED fixtures that will match the existing style streetlights in downtown Edmonds. The street trees being planted along the corridor will be better suited for the urban environment and surrounding infrastructure.

Utility improvements include the relocation and removal of overhead utilities and poles, replacement of the aging watermain and new stormwater facilities to better manage stormwater runoff.

The street width will be reduced by 4 feet and a new raised mid-block crosswalk will be added as a traffic calming measure to enhance pedestrian circulation.

The $1.6 million project is funded with $1.56 million in state and federal grants and storm and water utility funding.

The City met with local business owners during the design phase and will meet with them again once the contractor has been selected for the project.
