City Council Meetings under Gubernatorial Proclamation
Woman with bucketThe City of Edmonds Parks Department is partnering with Zero Waste Washington to host a beach cleanup and test an easy-to-use sampling protocol from 9am – noon at Marina Beach on August 1, 2018. The protocol, developed by the US Environmental Protection Agency, is being tested by community groups throughout our region to identify the main sources of trash that end up in Puget Sound. Data collected during the cleanup events will help develop policies and programs aimed at keeping plastics out of the ocean.

Plastic in our creeks, lakes, rivers and marine waters are polluting our shorelines and getting into our fish and wildlife. It is estimated that 80% of the plastic pollution comes from land-based sources, with the majority coming from single-use plastics such as straws, beverage bottles, and food wrappers.

Join your friends and neighbors to help reduce plastic pollution in the ocean! Supplies and refreshments will be provided by Zero Waste Washington. Meet on the grassy knoll in the center of Marina Beach Park at 470 Admiral Way in Edmonds. Everyone is welcome, but please rsvp if you can to Jennifer.Leach@edmondswa.gov or call 425-771-0227.
