Summer 2016

The City of Edmonds is a Department of Ecology Phase II Western Washington Municipal Stormwater Permittee.  As a Phase II permit holder, the City is required to update our stormwater code by December 31, 2016 to meet the minimum requirements of the 2014 Ecology Stormwater Management Manual.  This includes reviewing and revising all development-related codes, rules, and standards to incorporate and require Low Impact Development principles and best management practices to make Low Impact Development the preferred and commonly used approach to site development.  The goal is to infiltrate, disperse, and retain stormwater runoff onsite to the extent feasible.

Two public outreach meetings will be held the afternoon of July 20, 2016. City staff, along with our stormwater consultant, will bring you up to speed on where we are at in the code update process, highlight significant changes, give examples of what stormwater design will look like under the new code, as well as answer questions you may have. We are offering two public meetings in an effort to effectively present information. The first meeting will be geared towards land development professionals who are knowledgeable in stormwater codes and regulations. The second meeting will be open to the public who wish to gain a better understanding of stormwater requirements as they relate to development.
