Fall 2015

By now, most people have heard the argument on why it is important to support local businesses. The local, mainly small businesses of Edmonds support the livelihoods of many of our residents. Moreover, these local businesses provide us with a variety of services, products, dining and entertainment options that help make Edmonds, well the Edmonds that we all love. What you may not be aware of is that some of these local businesses have pledged to become an Edmonds Green Business!

What is the Edmonds Green Business Pledge?
The Green Business Pledge was initiated in the spring of 2014 as part of the City’s effort to encourage environmental awareness among its business community. The Pledge consists of four core objectives:

Ø  To be an environmentally responsible business within our community
Ø  To conserve energy, water, materials and other resources
Ø  To develop and implement practices which minimize pollution and waste
Ø  To strive for continuous improvement

The City is proud to recognize those businesses who have taken the pledge and congratulates them for being leaders and role models for their commitment to reducing negative impacts to our environment through sustainable business practices:

We hope to add to this list in the coming months. If you are a business owner, please consider taking the pledge. If you are local consumer and don’t see one of your favorite businesses on the list, please help us spread the word about the Edmonds Green Business Pledge.

How to Become a Green Business
The City challenges every business to take the Green Business Pledge as one step towards becoming an environmentally conscious member of the City. It’s easy – just go to http://greenbusiness.edmondswa.gov and fill out the pledge. Join your fellow Edmonds businesses who have already pledged, and you will be awarded a Green Business Pledge Emblem to display at your business and receive recognition on the City website and local media for your commitment to conserving and protecting our environment.
